Travel Lanka Compass began when Leo Fernando set out to transform mobility in Sri Lanka — pioneering the country's first hailing app to raise the bar on comfort, safety, and service. That pursuit of care and precision revealed a deeper calling: helping travelers explore Sri Lanka in ways that were authentic and reliable. That discovery became the seed of what TLC would grow into.
By 2014 our focus shifted to tourism, beginning with a car and driver service that earned the trust of the diplomatic community. Their expectations taught us precision, reliability, and personalization. As we curated experiences for discerning travelers, our expertise grew alongside the demand — today, with over 500 curated holidays behind us, our philosophy remains simple: listen deeply, design thoughtfully, deliver with integrity.

Leo is the founder of Travel Lanka Compass and comes from a private & public equity market research and investment management background. Prior to setting up TLC, he was Chief Investment Officer at a New York-based private equity company in Sri Lanka, and has worked as a financial analyst for a Singapore-based hedge fund and a European investment bank. Leo started his career at KPMG and is a CFA Charterholder (USA) & Chartered Accountant.
During the Covid period, Leo returned to investment banking to help set up a boutique investment bank focused on M&A advisory services. Alongside TLC, he sits on a few boards as an independent director and provides cross-border strategy consultancy for SMEs.
